On Friday, September 15th, members of the Mobile Mini IT department spent their morning volunteering at the Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS) by taking part in Operation Clean Closet. CASS was founded in 1984 and is a non-profit charitable organization which relies heavily on supporters to empower men, women, and children with diverse needs to end their homelessness by providing shelter and supportive services. Throughout the week CASS receives bags and bags of donated clothes and toiletries from the surrounding Phoenix area for those in nee. However, due to low manning, they rarely are able to sort through it all. To help manage this, they created Operation Clean Closet where teams of 5-15 volunteers spend 2-3 hours sorting the incoming donations, organizing the Client Clothing Bank, creating inventory, and putting together hygiene kits.
This experience was both a humbling and rewarding. I recommend anyone who has a few hours to give, contact the Central Arizona Shelter Services and see what opportunities they have for you.
